Grew Solar to Build 8 GW Ingot & Wafer Facility in MP by 2028

Grew Solar has completed the land acquisition process for setting up an 8 gigawatt (GW) ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh, with commercial operations expected to commence by March 2028.

The proposed facility will be established in Narmadapuram, where the company is already developing a separate 3 GW solar cell manufacturing unit, according to Chief Operating Officer Hardip Singh.

The expansion comes amid a proposal by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to include solar wafers and ingots under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework from June 1, 2028. The proposed move would require Indian solar module manufacturers to source these key components domestically, potentially accelerating investments in the local solar supply chain.
